COMMERCIAL FUEL SALES AGENT

Campus Oil is one of Ireland’s largest suppliers of commercial fuels, supplying customers directly via our Direct to Consumer (DTC) division and through our extensive authorised distributor (AD) network. This job description outlines the role and responsibilities of the Campus Oil Commercial Fuel Sales Agent.

Reports to: Sales Centre Manager

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Commercial Fuel Sales Agent will be responsible for selling Campus Commercial Fuels to new and existing Commercial (Business) Customers throughout Ireland.

The Commercial Fuel Sales Agent will have responsibility for the growth; development and retention of an assigned commercial customer book, ensuring long term mutually satisfactory relationships are maintained.

The Commercial Fuel Sales Agent will have responsibility for generating new business development using a broad range of approaches with success measured by the volume (litres) sold, new customers secured, margin and CPL achieved.

In conjunction with the Campus operations team, the agent will ensure customers receive a first class on time delivery service.

TECHNICAL CRITERIA:

  • 2 years sales experience in a fast paced service industry, ideally a call centre environment but not essential.
  • Experience directly managing customer relationships.
  • Experience and ability to work under pressure while meeting targets set and ensuring attention to detail is maintained.
  • Strong negotiation skills to achieve optimum results for the company.
  • Fluent in English both written and oral.
  • Proficient with MS Office including exceptional Excel Skills.
  • Proficient in numerical skills.
  • Experience in oil industry is desirable but not essential.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintaining and developing existing long-term customers, focusing on customer delivery, margin and retention. Key areas include:
    1. Development and retention of assigned customer lists
    2. Providing timely pricing – being proactive, understanding the customer’s buying patterns and price sensitivity
    3. Monitoring various customer reports ensuring retention levels are maximised
    4. Taking ownership for customer queries or issues, where possible providing first call resolution
    5. Liaising with other departments including operations and credit control
    6. Attend customer meetings (rare – but when required)
  • Prospecting new business through telephone and email based selling throughout Campus Oil’s DTC territory. Key areas include:
    1. Proactive researching and generation of leads
    2. Targeting new business prospects, developing relationships and understanding the customer’s buying circle and requirements.
    3. Providing timely pricing – being proactive, understanding the customer’s buying patterns and price sensitivity
    4. Completing or assisting with submission of Prequalification Questionnaires (PQQ’s) and Request for Pricing (RFP’s)
    5. Attend customer meetings (rare – but when required)
  • Prospecting lapsed customers through telephone and email based selling throughout Campus Oil’s DTC territory. Key areas include:
    1. Proactive targeting and development of lapsed customer lists
    2. Targeting lapsed customers, developing relationships and understanding the reasons why they have ceased trading with Campus.
    3. Providing timely pricing – being proactive, understanding the customer’s buying patterns and price sensitivity
    4. Attend customer meetings (rare – but when required)
  • Working closely with our operations team to ensure timely delivery to all customers and responding to customer requests including:
    1. Agreeing delivery dates
    2. Clarifying and responding to customer ETA requests
    3. Taking ownership for the customer relationship regarding operation’s complaints or queries including spills and damage.
    4. Ensuring first-class Customer Service levels are met at all times
  • Displaying own initiative to develop and maintain a pro-active attitude towards clients and client requests.
  • Reporting regularly to your manager on pipeline and prospects.
  • Achieving monthly targets – volume, margin, new business and outbound calls.
  • Attending and participating in corporate network events including agricultural shows, Chamber of Commerce events, farm group AGM’s and corporate entertainment.

HOURS OF WORK:

Commercial sales agents work four different shift times, flexibility for working hours and shift rotation is required.

  • Shift times are as follows:
    • 8am – 4.30pm
    • 8.30am – 5pm
    • 9pm – 5.30pm
    • 9.30am – 6pm
